Mary Elizabeth Gore – Ash, NC

mary-gore-_2Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gore age 92, of Ash, North Carolina passed away peacefully on December 11, 2009 at Brunswick Community Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born in Leland, North Carolina on December 27, 1916, Mary was the daughter of William and Mary Johnston Mintz. She was the youngest of six children and was predeceased by her five siblings and parents. Mary was also predeceased by her husband, Sinclair Craven Gore, two sons, Gene Autry Gore, Sr., Craven Wayne Gore, Sr., and a grandson, Carl Milligan.

Survivors include one son, Roger Gore and wife Cecilia of Ash, NC, Five daughters, Shirley Gore of Shallotte, NC, Shelby Inman of Dade City, Florida, Joan Milligan of Leland, NC, Barbara Merritt of Leland, NC, Ellen Milligan and husband Donnie of Ash, NC, daughter in-law, Pamela Gore of Shallotte, NC, 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday December 14, 2009 from 6-8 pm at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service, 1411 N. Howe Street, Southport.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 15, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Holy Light Church in Ash. Interment follow at Griffin Cemetery in Ash, NC.

Casketbearers will be grandsons.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brunswick Community Hospital and Autumn Care of Shallotte for the quality care and kindness shown to our loved one.

I am sad at your loss, but happy for you that you had your Mother for so many years. Ms Mary wore a fine name in this community, one that you can be proud of. God bless you in your loneliness for her ………Love Janice and Major White

I am sure Rev. Leo will be missed. I knew him when I was a child in Loris. When he let our area I missed the family. I have thought of you all many times. Love to you all.
